Oregon Grape or Mahonia Aquifolium is a hardy native evergreen holly-like shrub that works well in either sun or part shade. Oregon Grape provides year-around interest in the garden, producing yellow flower clusters in spring and blue, edible berries in the summer and fall. Shiny green leaves will become red-tinged in harsh winters. The flower of Mahonia aquifolium is the state flower of Oregon and Native Americans once used the yellow roots and branches of this plant for dye. Plant Oregon Grape in groups of 3 or more to create a bird habitat. 2 year-old plant in a 6" gallon pot.
